The Process with
Hastings Direct Claims Line
An accident could leave you feeling frightened, angry or upset, but there’s a procedure you need to follow regardless of who may or may not be at fault.
As a condition of your car insurance policy, you must tell your insurer if you’re involved in an accident, even if you don’t want to make a claim. This should be done within 48 hours of the incident and failure to do so could invalidate your cover.
If you wish to make a claim and you weren’t at fault for the accident, Hastings Direct will try to get the cost of dealing with your claim back from the other driver’s insurer. If successful, your no claims discount may not be affected.
If you’re found to be at fault for the accident then Hastings will attempt to make contact with the third party (the other driver) in order to help settle their claim. It’s important you tell your insurer of all correspondence you receive from other parties involved so they can handle the response.
